Mum & Dad married in December 1941 in Long Melford church, during some of the darkest days of the war.  After a "honeymoon" in Manchester (where Dad was encamped in Heaton Park with the RAF and Mum stayed in a rather unwelcoming boarding-house), Dad went straight to Liverpool to embark for the US for further flight training.
